ctrl LIVE: The Veils

The Veils return to Control in full force, full band, on Friday, November 6. Fronted by Anglo–New Zealand singer-songwriter Finn Andrews, their alt-rock wanders just outside the familiar indie lines, threading darkness with softness into a cinematic current that draws images out of sound. The Veils have toured consistently throughout their twenty year history and garnered a formidable reputation as one of the world’s greatest live bands. They have also been praised by film directors Paolo Sorrentino, Tim Burton and David Lynch who have all used their music on their soundtracks. Following the critically acclaimed release of Asphodels in 2025, The Veils return with a bold and invigorated new album, Fragile World, out this June. And that one was focused on self-reflection and private reckoning, with an intimate feeling. The album’s title is both a reflection of the present moment - a time in which many institutions appear to be crumbling before our eyes - and a metaphor for the act of creation itself. The process of making music, Andrews notes, is a delicate and fragile undertaking where thousands of small decisions gradually coalesce into a finished whole. With its immediacy, intensity, and emotional clarity, Fragile World stands as one of The Veils’ most compelling releases to date. “Finn Andrews doesn’t breathe the same air as the rest of us. .. essential for anyone who likes their music to stand metaphorically on a mountaintop and rage at distant stars. ” The Observer “Horse-whipped, lightning-crash clamor. .. magnetic. ” Pitchfork “One of the finest songwriters of his generation. ” Drowned in Sound Listen: The Veils - The Ladder — * Children ages 12 and under are not allowed to the event. ** Children up to 16 years old need a valid ticket and must be accompanied by a parent with a valid ticket. *** Minors aged 16 to 18 years old have access with a valid ticket. **** Serving and alcohol consumption are strictly forbidden for all minors.
